Ukulele Beginners Intro (Adults)

Adult class for brand new Beginners (Adults, Teens, and Kids over 10 are welcome with an adult learner). No music experience necessary!  We will cover 4 basic chords, 2 rhythms and simple songs.  Ukuleles are popular around the world because of their ease of playing, wonderful sound, portability and musical versatility.  They are also the best instrument for group playing and singing.  Playing music and singing has been shown to reduce stress and strengthen the immune system, and learning an instrument is great for the adult brain!  Household member, 1/2 price.  Handouts and webpage support (videos, etc) included.  All you need is a ukulele and a clip-on tuner (or free tuning app on your phone).   REGISTER    Call Amy if you would like advice about purchasing an instrument, or visit Indie Music in Amherst, NH.  I have some to loan out while you think about what type you wish to buy.  Required Text:  The Daily Ukulele by Liz and Jim Beloff:  365 Songs for Daily Living.   You will need this book by October.

The Kukuleles (Adults)

For Intermediate players who are familiar with many songs in The Daily Ukulele (yellow book and blue book are used in this class), can read/learn chord diagrams quickly, want to increase their ukulele skills and would enjoy performing at local events (optional).  Open to all students who have completed Intermediate Ukulele class or new students who demonstrate appropriate skill. Learn harmonies, picking patterns, percussive rhythm strumming, jazz chords and great songs.   Several time slots a week (and makeup opportunities if you miss a class).      

50 Min. classes.  Summer:  5 week sessions,  $80.  Fall 10 week session ($160).   Required books are The Daily Ukulele and The Daily Ukulele Leap Year edition.    Handouts will also be provided and some video support.   In person and on Zoom.  Kukuleles web page.

Private Guitar, Ukulele, Piano

Ages 8 to Adults!  Everyone can be musical if given a nurturing musical environment and positive, enjoyable instruction based on personal interests. Beginner Piano, Beginner  Banjo, Guitar (Beg. and Adv. Beg), Ukulele (Beginner, Adv. Beginner). $35 for 25 minutes, $65 for 50 min.  Option to combine two instruments.  REGISTER

Ukulele Rhythms, Key of C

For people who have already taken four weeks of Ukulele Beginner Intro, OR can easily play chords C, Am, F, G7, C7, Dm and change from one to the other.    Required text,  The Daily Ukulele - 365 Songs For Daily Living by Jim and Liz Beloff, order online, Here  Using chords you already know, we will work on strumming & rhythm,  and also play simple songs by ear (not looking at music).  Lots of fun with this amazing instrument!  Late Fall,  $90 for six weekly classes (40 min), come to Milford Studio or Zoom in!

Folk Jam & Sing (stringed instruments)

Advanced Beginners or Intermediate players, bring your guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele or baritone uke and work on learning and singing some great songs!   We will sing harmonies,  learn finger-picking and strumming rhythms, expand our repertoires, increase our knowledge of chords, and practice playing by ear.  You should be able to play basic major and minor chords to join this class-- it is not for new beginners-- but chord charts are shown for each instrument and song.   Email Amy for songbook ordering info.

Summer:  $80 (plus songbook $10-20.) for 5 weeks, 45 min class, limited to seven adults.

Ukin' The 60s

Come play great songs of the sixties!   For anyone who can play basic chords  (C, D, E7, F, G, A, Bb and Am, Dm, Em) on the ukulele.  Strums and picking patterns will be included as you develop your skills.   Required book;  The Daily Ukulele by Liz and Jim Beloff,  publisher Hal Leonard.  REGISTER   Zoom online.

Wholistic Music / Movement

This is a private lesson giving you (or your child) a general, wholistic music experience, suitable for most learning styles and needs.  Amy will include developmental skills you may be working on.  Both therapeutic and joyful for children or adults.  In the Milford NH studio, Amy can expose you to the sounds and tactile experiences of piano, keyboard, bass, drums, ukuleles, guitar, banjo, rhythm instruments, movement props (scarves, streamers) and more.  Please call before registering to discuss your special needs.  603-249-9560. $75 for 45 minutes.   

Uke Skills & Songs Adv Beg

Ukulele Beginner Cont.

Ukulele Eras

Using The Daily Ukulele - LEAP YEAR EDITION (Blue),   we will travel through song in the 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's.   Level is Advanced Beginner and Intermediate with accomodations for both levels.     Order your book here Flea Market Music or buy used.   Book is also available in Baritone version now.   Zoom class and in person.

Ukulele Winter Songs

For Advanced Beginner and up,  we will play beautiful songs of Winter.  Skills include fingerpicking, singing and playing,  rhythm.  There will be  handouts for new songs, provided online.  $90.  6 Weeks (family member attending with you is $45,  or a relative on the same Zoom screen is free.  Meets on Zoom and in person in Milford NH.  REGISTER

 

Private Lesson twice a month

For Adults who want to take a lesson every other week.   Everyone can be musical if given a nurturing musical environment and positive, enjoyable instruction based on personal interests. Beginner Piano,  Beginner Banjo (Beginner), Guitar (Beg. and Adv. Beg, Ukulele (Beginner, Adv. Beginner). $30 for 25 minutes, First Lesson is $45 includes book.   Can be held online with the Zoom application OR at the Milford NH studio.

Pooh Sticks Family Music

Weekly small-group for kids and babies ages birth to 7 and their parents or caregivers,  held outdoors in Milford NH at the Shelley Garden (Unitarian Universalist Church).  We will observe nature, dance on the grass and learn songs about animals and the natural world around us. Amy plays guitar, banjo, ukulele, recorder or drum.  Bring to class:  waterproof mats or blanket to sit on.  4 weekly classes, 45 minutes each, $88/family.    REGISTER and choose Pay Later option (pay in class first day). When it rains or snows hard, that day will be cancelled & made up after the four weeks, so please check texts before coming. Portapotties are available in Hollis and indoor restroom is available in Milford.

Guitar/Uke Adv Beg: Songs by Women

Bring your guitar or ukulele to Milford for an Adv. Beg / Intermediate level class where instruction is combined with an opportunity to expand your song repertoire.  We might do songs by Joni Mitchell, Hazel Dickens, Crys Mathews, Melanie DeMore, Brandi Carlile, Nancy Griffith, Julie Gold, Tracy Chapman, Gillian Welch, Chris Williams, Indigo Girls, Pat Humphries, Cris Williamson, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Carole King, Nancy Beaudette, Stevie Nicks, June Carter Cash, Shawn Colvin, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Ellie Greenwich, and more.   This class is slated to go on all year in 6 week sessions, 45 min.   Lyrics, chords, links to videos will be provided via webpage.  

Baby Rhythm & Song

This is a class for young children under 2 years old with parent or caregiver. Activities involving music and movement activate more areas of the growing brain than any other activity, according to brain imaging research.  Experience songs, dances, instrument play involving live piano, ukulele, guitar, banjo, drums, percussion and puppets.  Now is the time to develop your child's neural connections and the love of music. Adults in class learn the importance of music for the young child and the primary caregiver's role in early childhood development.  Easy parking, no stairs.  Because of the limitations in my home studio, there will be no exceptions to allow children older than two years at the time of registration.

Summer  5 Weeks, $80/family.   Limited to 7 families.

  

Adult Guitar Beginner Cont.

For those who have not played for a long time or have started playing recently.   Songs from the folk tradition and the 60's - 70's folk/rock.  Enjoy singing with others and working at your own pace.   Chords,  strumming and picking patterns.    

For students who have taken Adult Beginner Guitar  or know basic chords (D, G, A, C, E, Am, Em) June July Session:  5 weeks,  $80.  Fall session 10 weeks $160, second household member hald-price.

  

Fingerpicking String Jam

All fingerpicking, for players of the banjo, guitar, ukulele.    We will sing songs with our instruments and practice fingerpicking.  This is for Advanced Beginners,  people who can play basic major and minor chords but would like to advance beyond strumming and play music with others for fun.   Handouts provided.  Fall Session $160 for 10 weeks, Milford NH studio in person only.
